Read your shape's row, then the runner-up's. Most men sit between two.

Oval

Length about 1.5× the width, jaw a little narrower than the cheekbones, no sharp corners.

Haircut: Almost anything. Keep some height on top and the sides tight; avoid heavy fringes that shorten the face.
Beard: Short boxed beard or a full beard with the cheek line left natural.
Glasses: Square, rectangular, wayfarer or aviator; a frame with angles gives the face structure.

Round

Length and width close to equal, wide jaw with soft corners, full cheeks.

Haircut: Height on top, tight fade on the sides: pompadour, quiff, textured crop. Nothing that adds width at the ears.
Beard: Longer at the chin, shorter on the cheeks: goatee, ducktail, or a full beard shaped to a point.
Glasses: Rectangular, square or geometric. Skip small round frames.

Square

Forehead, cheekbones and jaw about the same width; a flat chin and a jaw corner you can see.

Haircut: Texture and movement: side part, messy crop, medium length with a soft fringe. Avoid flat tops and hard box cuts.
Beard: Rounded full beard or a heavy stubble that softens the corners. No squared-off edges.
Glasses: Round, oval or thin metal frames; heavy acetate doubles the angles.

Heart

Widest at the forehead, cheekbones prominent, chin narrow or pointed, often a widow's peak.

Haircut: Medium length with weight at the sides and a fringe or a side-swept front. Keep the crown low.
Beard: Full at the chin to add width: full beard, chin strap, a squared goatee. Avoid thin goatees that point the chin.
Glasses: Bottom-heavy, rimless or light-coloured frames; no heavy brow bars.

Oblong

Clearly longer than wide, straight cheek lines, forehead and jaw about the same width.

Haircut: Width at the sides, no height on top: side part, textured fringe, a longer messy cut. Avoid undercuts with tall tops.
Beard: Fuller on the cheeks and short at the chin. A long chin beard makes the face longer.
Glasses: Tall or oversized frames, decorative temples; anything that adds width.
